After your doctor prescribes a brace for you, our physical therapy staff will fit the brace to you to ensure that it is sized correctly and positioned properly. The patient is allowed to try the brace on while running on a treadmill, walking in the gym, hopping or even playing outside which allows the physical therapist to determine the proper brace type and size that would be most beneficial for the patient.

Existing and new patients will usually need a prescription from their referring doctor for the brace or DME device. Sandy, our office manager, will be able to check your insurance benefits to determine your coverage. Eastern Shore Physical Therapy also offers a wide selection of braces that can be purchased without a doctor’s prescription. Patients without insurance are always able to purchase a brace or DME themselves. The goal of providing braces or DME devices is to allow the patient to return to their desired activity as quickly as possible, whether it is for walking at work or for pleasure or for returning to a sport.
